CDC Reports 25 Illness Cases Due to Salmonella Outbreak Linked with Cucumber from Mexico

As per recent report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the agency is currently keeping track of 838 salmonellosis cases and four deaths that are caused by the strain of bacteria known as Salmonella Poona. The CDC has reported 25 cases of salmonella outbreak in cucumbers from Mexico, shipped by a California distributor, in Washington. According to the Washington Department of Health, the growth rate of salmonella infected cases has slowed.

Last week report by the Trust for America’s Health shows Colorado to be the eighth- highest youth drug overdose rate in the nation. According to the nonprofit organization, drug overdose death rate has increased twice in past 10 years. The organization said that the state's youth drug overdose death rate is 10.2 per 100,000, compared with the national rate of 7.3 per 100,000. The increase in drug overdose death rate is most common among 12-to25-year-olds.

NASA has released stunning images taken by NASA’s Long Range Reconnaissance Imager (LORRI) and the Ralph/Multispectral Visible Imaging Camera during the closest flyby of New Horizons between July 7 and July 13 on the dwarf Planet, Pluto. The images combine to form a fully illuminated portrait arranged like the face of a clock revealing different portions in front of the sun’s rays. The images show that both Pluto and Charon rotate 6.4 Earth days.

The latest statistical report by the CDC showed that the rates of Sexually transmitted Diseases (STDs) like chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis have increased at alarming rates. The CDC calls the report as ‘the highest number of annual cases of any condition ever reported to CDC’.
