Ups and Downs in E. coli Infected Cases at Chipotle E. coli Outbreak

Last week seemed to be a confusing week in the Chipotle E.coli investigation. Earlier, it was thought that the E.coli contaminated food has been eliminated from the food chain of Chipotle restaurants. On Nov 17, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reduced the number of those sickened in Oregon and Washington from 50 to 37 and reported no new cases of illness since October 30. But, the new report released on November 20 showed that the outbreak has expanded in four other states including Minnesota.

Both Pluto and Charon Rotate 6.4 Earth Days

NASA has released stunning images taken by NASA’s Long Range Reconnaissance Imager (LORRI) and the Ralph/Multispectral Visible Imaging Camera during the closest flyby of New Horizons between July 7 and July 13 on the dwarf Planet, Pluto. The images combine to form a fully illuminated portrait arranged like the face of a clock revealing different portions in front of the sun’s rays. The images show that both Pluto and Charon rotate 6.4 Earth days. NASA’s New Horizons captured Pluto rotating over the course of a full ‘Pluto Day’.

A First: Up to 3 newborn planets observed in formation stage

As many as 1,900 planets have been discovered outside our solar system. But scientists have discovered something new, they have observed up to three newborn planets evolving from a disk of gas and dust particles. These stars, which are the first ones to be seen while they are still forming, are circling a distant Sun-like star.

2 Teams receive R5 humanoid robot for advanced research and development work

In order to conduct advanced research and development work, teams at the MA Institute of Technology and Northeastern University have been awarded prototypes of NASA’s R5 humanoid robot. R5 is also known as Valkyrie, originally created to help in disaster relief.

NASA has taken this initiative in order to prepare for the day when humans and robots will team up. The robot can be used in two scenarios: as precursor robots that perform tasks before humans reach at the spot or as human-assistive robots in which they will work with the human crew.
