Warriors Off to Hot Start in Round 2

The Golden State Warriors have been one of the best teams in the National Basketball Association for the past three seasons. Over this time, the Warriors have won the league title twice and have broken many different scoring records. While the Warriors have been extremely dominant over the past few years, the 2018 season was a bit of a down year for the team as they ended up finishing in second place in the conference.

While the Warriors were not able to beat out the Houston Rockets for first place in the conference during the regular season, they are looking strong in the playoffs. During the first round of the playoffs, the Warriors looked very good by beating the San Antonio Spurs in five games.

While Golden State looked very good during the first round, some were concerned about whether or not their playoff run would end after the first round as they were facing a very tough matchup in the second round against the New Orleans Pelicans. This team previously looked very good in the first round as they demolished the Portland Trail Blazers and looked unstoppable. While the Warriors looked like they could have a tough matchup against New Orleans, they have gotten off to a very fast start (https://www.nytimes.com/2018/04/29/sports/basketball/golden-state-warrio...).

During Game 1 of the series, the Warriors got off to a very vast start. They ended up having a very tough first quarter that saw them score 35 points, but also let up 34. In the second quarter the Warriors were able to continue the hot shooting and had 76 points at the half and were able to extend their lead to 21 as the Pelicans were not able to keep up. In the end, the Warriors held on to the big lead and won by a score of 123-121. The Warriors were led by Kevin Durant who scored 27 points and had 13 rebounds.

One of the most impressive things about their first game win is also that they continue to be without star guard Steph Curry. He has been out of the playoffs so far due to a couple of different injuries that he incurred earlier in the season. Curry, who is considered one of the best offensive players in the league, will be an amazing addition whenever he is able to come back. There is a good chance that he could rejoin the team within the next few days.
