Fans of April the growing anxious as she shows no sign of going into labor

Fans of April the giraffe are increasingly becoming anxious as the pregnant mammal is showing no sign of going into labor well after she was initially expected to deliver a baby.

Officials at the Harpursville, New York-based Animal Adventure Park have launched a live stream to document and show April’s pregnancy and the birth of her calf. The live stream immediately went viral, with more than 100,000 individuals watching her at any given time.

However, the fans are growing anxious as the wait continues to increase. Close to a couple of months after officials set up the live cam, April isn’t showing any sign of active labor.

In an update, the zoo reported, “We have been told by other parks that mothers will sometimes feast just before the birth. Who knows and here is to hoping! Behavior was very typical at first, but shifted during Allysa’s time with her. This is not a bad thing, just adds another piece to our puzzle.”

Zoo officials also said that they were concerned over the weather, which grew wet and cold, forcing giraffes at the facility to remain indoors.

April is 15 years old and the eagerly-awaited calf will be her 4th baby. She has never lost a calf nor suffered a stillborn. The zoo has announced that it will conduct a naming contest after April delivers a baby to involve fans.
