It is smarter to wait before placing order for Samsung Galaxy S8

Samsung has officially launched the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus smartphones, and one can place preorders now. However, some analysts have suggested that it would be smarter to wait.

One should wait until 9th of May, when Best Buy will start offering unlocked versions of the Galaxy S8, and buyers will be able to use those phones with any major American carrier.

Current carrier lock-in will really suck. The Samsung Galaxy S6 and S7, for instance, would not allow many users cleanly switch from Verizon to T-Mobile and vice versa because of missing LTE bands.

Moreover, the unlocked Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge smartphones are still waiting for getting Android 7.0 (Nougat) update, even though carrier versions of the same handsets have already received them.

Waiting for a few months before purchasing a smartphone will also enable prospective buyers to make a better informed choice.

Both Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus feature a 5.8-inch and a 6.2-inch display, respectively. The Galaxy S8 series features a rear-facing 8-megapixel f/1.7 snapper with Dual Pixel technology, ensuring better autofocus performance even in a low-light situation. Users will be able to have their hands on the Galaxy S8 Plus for between $840 to $850 from carriers, or $825 for an unlocked version from Best Buy.
