Amazon’s artificial intelligence voice assistant Alexa will soon be available for iPhone and other iOS-based devices through the Amazon Shopping app.
On Thursday, Amazon announced that Alexa would be integrated into the Amazon Shopping app for users of iOS, providing all users of Apple’s mobile devices with access to the digital assistance while away from their homes.
While some users of Apple devices may already have downloaded Alexa to support their Alexa-enabled devices such as the Echo, the new move will allow users to speak to the digital assistant on the go.
Interested users will require hitting the microphone icon at the top of the app to make iPhone to wake up Alexa. Then users will be able to ask the digital assistant to conduct tasks like to playing music through Amazon Prime Music or adding item to their Amazon shopping basket.
In addition, Alexa can answer a range of questions, including providing information on the weather or making certain simple calculations.
For the last few months, Amazon has been trying to make a big push for integrating Alexa with a number of devices. The digital assistant has already been integrated into the tech giant’s Echo smart speaker. At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2017, the company announced Alexa’s partnership with LG’s new refrigerator and Huawei’s Mate 9 smartphone.
