Google Assistant is the standout feature of new Pixel handsets

Google’s artificial intelligence (AI)-powered digital assistant, Google Assistant, is one of the most impressive features of the company’s new Pixel and Pixel XL handsets.

The Google Assistant – which essentially marks an evolution of the Google Now service – is baked into the two new Pixel handsets launched by Google. On both the Pixel and Pixel XL handsets, full-fledged Google Assistant is available as a chatbot in Google's new Allo messaging app.

With Google Assistant having made its way into the Pixel and Pixel XL handsets, it is evident that the availability of the digital assistant will eventually expand beyond smartphones and smartwatches, and will be available on other new Google products like Google Home.

The Google Assistant available on the Pixel handsets paves the way for interactions which are mostly conversational in nature; with Google’s apparent objective being to make the Assistant affable, and to ensure its ready availability for responding to users’ queries.

Despite the fact that the AI-powered Assistant service is currently a Preview Edition, one of the key benefits of the Assistant is its ability to readily utilize a vast pool of data from Google's knowledge graph. The increasing use of the service by consumers will prompt the Assistant to use its AI smarts for delivering better recommendations.
