Apple will reportedly launch TV guide at Oct. 27 event

According to a Recode report, tech biggie Apple will unveil its own version of a TV guide at its Mac hardware event scheduled to be held in Cupertino, California, on October 27.

The report has revealed that Apple's own version of a TV guide will live atop the Apple TV streaming box, as well as an app on iOS devices. The guide will give the users the ability to find new shows based on what they watch.

The launch of the TV guide by Apple will basically facilitate users in searching and finding shows and movies across a wide array of apps.

The TV guide will be capable of syncing with a number of supported streaming services -- which currently do not include Netflix streaming service -- and will offer recommendations. The sync between the guide and the supported streaming services will be possible with one single login.

The TV guide essentially treats the user's subscriptions like a single library. As such, it is basically a software overlay which can effectively sidestep the mobile apps of individual companies and over-the-top streaming services.
