New Facebook feature allows users to stream video from smartphone to TV

In an announcement made on Thursday, social network Facebook said that it is rolling out a new feature which will enable users to stream video from their smartphone to their TV, via Apple TV, AirPlay devices, Google Chromecast, and Google Cast devices.

The feature which allows Facebook users to watch its News Feed videos on their TV is now available for the iOS platform, and will “soon” be available for the Android platform as well.

For using the new feature, Facebook users simply have to find a video in the feed on their smartphone or desktop, and tap the TV button positioned on the top right side. Thereafter, users have to select the device which they want to use for streaming the video.

According to the details shared by Facebook, the new feature is capable of working for all of Facebook's videos, including its live videos. Facebook said that the bigger screen of the TV will make it easier to follow user reactions in real time, when live videos are watched on a TV.

The new feature gives users the ability to keep scrolling through the feed and use Facebook alongside while the video continues to stream; thereby making Facebook both the first and second screen.
