Verizon will offer immediate updates for Google Pixel smartphones

Verizon has informed that Google Pixel smartphones will get immediate Android updates. Google had earlier informed that rollout of updates depends on carrier and updates would require steps from carriers before they are launched for smartphone users.

Verizon has now confirmed that like Apple’s iPhone, Google’s smartphones will get immediate updates. Google’s Pixel smartphones will get updates for Android operating systems as soon as Google will provide them for users.

Earlier media statements had indicated that security updates would be immediately provided to all customers. However, major updates would need time. But, after clarification from Verizon, it is clear that Google Pixel users will immediately receive even major updates launched by Google.

Verizon Wireless informed, “Verizon version of the Google Pixel is carrier unlocked, so you can use it where ever you like. Finally, we have three apps pre-installed on the phone Go90, My Verizon (which is your account management tool) and Verizon Messages (your messaging app). As you noted, all three can easily be uninstalled by the user.”

Google Pixel 32GB model will cost $649 while 128GB model will cost $749. Google Pixel XL comes in two variants, 32GB and 128GB. The 32GB version will cost $769 and 128GB model will cost $869.
