Judicial Watch files Lawsuit against Government over Climate Change Study

Judicial Watch announced Tuesday that it has filed a lawsuit against Obama administration in an attempt to get documents related to a controversial climate change study published this summer.

The conservative foundation is trying to get records from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). The move by the group comes at a time when US Representative Lamar Smith is having a dispute with the federal agency over its decision not to unveil documents to him for his inquiry about the controversial study.

The US government has idea that a court case filed by Judicial Watch cannot be ignored as the Obama administration has prior experience, said Tom Fitton, President of Judicial Watch. “Given the lawless refusal to comply with our FOIA request and a congressional subpoena, we have little doubt that the documents will show the Obama administration put politics before science to advance global warming alarmism”, he added.

About two weeks after the lawsuit was filed, Rep. Smith received some records from NOAA that he was looking for. According to Smith, who chairs the House Science Committee, the agency sent the document after the interference of scientists working on the study. Judicial Watch said Smith was given records after its lawsuit.

The ongoing dispute is due to a study published by NOAA in journal Science in summers. The study showed that there was no pause in global warming.
